Postdoctoral Fellow – Microbiology: The Storelli Lab at the Centre for Organismal Studies (COS), Heidelberg University, Germany, is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join our team. Our lab investigates the interactions between animals and their microbiome, utilizing Drosophila and model gut bacteria to explore symbiotic relationships that impact essential animal physiology. Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD degree in Microbiology, Life Sciences, or related fields.
- Strong background in microbiology, particularly bacterial engineering (including targeted and random mutagenesis), Tn-seq, omics (RNA-seq, metabolomics), and bioinformatics.
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken) as it is the working language in the lab.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Creativity, motivation, and curiosity to pursue cutting-edge research.
Job Description:
The selected Postdoctoral Fellow will conduct research using model gut bacteria and the Drosophila gastrointestinal tract to uncover how the intestinal environment influences bacterial metabolism and physiology. The project will involve multi-omics approaches, providing the opportunity to work with genetic tools, high-throughput sequencing, and advanced bioinformatics. The position is set to start in March 2025 for an initial period of 2 years, with potential for extension, and offers a competitive salary based on the 13 TV-L German pay scale.
