Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD degree in Earth Sciences, Geochemistry, Paleoclimate, Chemistry, or a closely related field (must complete by Spring 2025).
- Demonstrated experience in organic geochemistry and the use of biomarkers as proxies for past climate and environmental conditions.
- Proficiency in organic isotope analyses, particularly involving leaf wax isotopes is required.
- Strong interest in method development and paleoclimate research is advantageous.
- Excellent proficiency in English and a collaborative, communicative approach to teamwork.
Job Description:
The postdoctoral researcher will take on the following responsibilities:
- Conduct independent research of high international quality in biomarker isotope geochemistry.
- Carry out sediment extraction, column chromatography, and analysis of leaf wax compounds using GC-FID.
- Develop low-concentration analysis methods for leaf wax isotopes using GC-IRMS.
- Generate and analyze high-resolution leaf wax isotope paleoclimate reconstructions.
- Publish findings in reputable journals and communicate research results within the scientific community.
- Mentor undergraduate and graduate students involved in the BRAINSTORM project as opportunities arise.
