The Niittylä group at the Umeå Plant Science Centre & Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to explore carbon assimilation and carbon partitioning mechanisms in trees, specifically focusing on Populus species. Eligibility/Qualification

  • Ph.D. in Plant Molecular Biology, Plant Biochemistry, or Plant Physiology.
  • Strong laboratory skills in molecular biology are required.
  • Experience in transcription factor characterization and/or metabolic flux analysis is highly desirable.
  • Fluency in English and a demonstrated track record of publishing PhD research in peer-reviewed high-quality journals.

Job Description

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Conducting functional genomics, metabolomics, and isotope flux analysis to study the molecular mechanisms of carbon partitioning in Populus trees.
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to advance our understanding of CO2 assimilation and carbon sequestration.
  • Engaging in experimental plant research with a focus on trees, contributing to the overall objectives of the research group.
