Research Area

The successful candidate will work on projects focusing on:

  • Host plant responses to Cabbage leaf curl virus (CbLCV) and African cassava mosaic virus (ACMV).
  • Mechanisms of epigenetic regulation and stability during viral infections.
  • Profiling circular DNA molecules and viral populations in crop systems.

Location

The position is based in Leuven, Belgium, at KU Leuven’s Division of Crop Biotechnics and Biosystems Department.


Eligibility/Qualification

  • A PhD degree in Bioengineering, Bioinformatics, Biology, Biotechnology, or a related field.
  • Excellent academic performance at the MSc and PhD levels.
  • Experience in bioinformatics, molecular biology, and virology is essential.

Job Description

  • Conduct independent research activities and analyze data related to viral interactions in crops.
  • Write scientific articles and contribute to publications.
  • Co-supervise Master’s and PhD students.
  • Co-develop research concepts and project proposals.
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to a stimulating research environment.
