Postdoctoral Scientist – Skin Science: Shannon Applied Biotechnology Centre (Shannon ABC) is a Research Centre and Technology Gateway, a collaboration between Munster Technological University (MTU) and the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS). The Centre supports Biotech, Food, and Life Science companies with scientific challenges, focusing on bioresources. Currently, Shannon ABC seeks a Postdoctoral Scientist for a collaborative cosmetic industry project to assess marine-derived extracts and products for skin care.

Postdoctoral Scientist – Marine Cosmetic Skin Science

Designation: Postdoctoral Scientist

Research Area: Marine Cosmetic Skin Science

Location: Shannon ABC laboratories, Munster Technological University, Tralee, Ireland. Regular visits to the industrial partner will be required.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • PhD in a biological science discipline or bio-analytical science field.
    • Knowledge of mammalian cell biology.
    • At least 2 years of experience in tissue cell culture.
    • Proficiency in in vitro cell-based assays and extract characterization methods like HPLC.
    • Experience designing, leading, and delivering cell-based research projects.
    • Familiarity with data presentation techniques and statistical software (e.g., GraphPad Prism).
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • High self-motivation and productivity.
  • Desirable Skills:
    • Postdoctoral experience.
    • Experience in cosmetic skin research or industry collaboration.
    • Strong interpersonal skills.
    • Full driving license.

Job Description:

  • Work under the direction of the project leader.
  • Support the industry sponsor in technical activities.
  • Screen compounds in various cell culture models.
  • Create and maintain project documentation, including lab books and reports.
  • Collaborate with team members, postgraduate students, and researchers as directed.

Salary:
€43,133 – €45,436, depending on qualifications and experience.
