Eligibility/Qualification

  • A relevant background in ecology, evolutionary biology, behavioral ecology, movement ecology, and/or statistics.
  • A minimum of a five-year Norwegian degree program, including 120 credits at the master’s level (equal to a Bachelor’s and typically a two-year Master’s).
  • Strong academic background with an average grade of B or better.
  • Current master’s students are encouraged to apply, but the master’s degree must be obtained before starting the PhD.
  • Strong quantitative skills, including competence in R statistical environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

Job Description

The successful candidate will:

  • Apply advanced statistical methods to analyze multi-year data from a wild bird population.
  • Conduct fieldwork, collating and checking field data.
  • Produce high-quality research publications as part of a PhD thesis.
  • Contribute to a collaborative research environment and participate in international mobility among collaborating groups.
  • Fulfill NTNU’s course credit requirements for a doctoral degree.
  • Undertake teaching and professional activities as agreed with the Department of Biology.
