Research Area

The selected candidate will investigate syngenetic organic-sulphidic compounds and secondary hydrothermal metal enrichment in diverse geological environments in Finland via advanced analytical techniques.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • Required:
  • Master’s degree in Geology, Geochemistry, or a related field (no doctoral degree).
  • Experience in sedimentologic and petrographic analysis of sedimentary rock drill cores.
  • Proficiency in microanalytical mineral analysis techniques.
  • English language proficiency (oral and written).
  • Willingness to travel within Finland and abroad.
  • Driver’s license.
  • Preferred:
  • Experience in organic geochemistry and knowledge of hydrothermal fluid interactions.
  • Familiarity with aquatic sedimentary environments and (bio)geochemistry.
  • Experience with microbial isotope fractionation and a demonstrated ability to publish research.

Description

As a doctoral candidate, you will:

  • Study organic-sulphidic compounds and their role in metal enrichment.
  • Conduct sedimentologic and petrographic characterizations.
  • Perform microanalyses of sulfur and metal isotopes using laser ablation ICP-MS and SIMS.
  • Participate in international collaboration and training activities, including travel to the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris.
