Research Area
The selected candidate will investigate syngenetic organic-sulphidic compounds and secondary hydrothermal metal enrichment in diverse geological environments in Finland via advanced analytical techniques.
Eligibility/Qualification
- Required:
- Master’s degree in Geology, Geochemistry, or a related field (no doctoral degree).
- Experience in sedimentologic and petrographic analysis of sedimentary rock drill cores.
- Proficiency in microanalytical mineral analysis techniques.
- English language proficiency (oral and written).
- Willingness to travel within Finland and abroad.
- Driver’s license.
- Preferred:
- Experience in organic geochemistry and knowledge of hydrothermal fluid interactions.
- Familiarity with aquatic sedimentary environments and (bio)geochemistry.
- Experience with microbial isotope fractionation and a demonstrated ability to publish research.
Description
As a doctoral candidate, you will:
- Study organic-sulphidic compounds and their role in metal enrichment.
- Conduct sedimentologic and petrographic characterizations.
- Perform microanalyses of sulfur and metal isotopes using laser ablation ICP-MS and SIMS.
- Participate in international collaboration and training activities, including travel to the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris.
