The project focuses on acoustic bird monitoring across Europe, aiming to integrate technology into large-scale biodiversity monitoring. The selected candidate will work in collaboration with the Catalan Ornithological Institute (ICO) and international bioacoustics monitoring networks.

Eligibility/Qualification:
Basic Requirements:
- PhD in a relevant field such as Ecology, Conservation Biology, Bioacoustics, Computational Science, or Environmental Science.
- Strong interdisciplinary foundation in ecology, data management, and technology.
- Proven experience in biodiversity monitoring methods and acoustic monitoring techniques, preferably for birds.
- Expertise with autonomous recording units, audio processing tools, and AI/ML algorithms (e.g., BirdNET, Kaleidoscope).
- Proficiency in managing large-scale ecological datasets, including long-term and transnational data.
- Expertise in statistical modelling for species distribution, population dynamics, or migration phenology.
Desirable Requirements:
- Proven capacity to lead research work and collaborate with teams.
- Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, R) for data analysis and visualization.
- Familiarity with bioacoustic tools, AI/ML pipelines, and deployment of field recording units.

Job Description:
The post-doctoral researcher will:
- Develop and standardize protocols to integrate acoustic bird monitoring data into EU-wide platforms.
- Design workflows to harmonize acoustic and traditional monitoring datasets.
- Lead the creation of Essential Biodiversity Variable (EBV) showcases.
- Collaborate with partners to refine workflows, reporting standards, and ensure practical relevance.
- Coordinate workshops and meetings while acting as CTFC’s liaison.
- Produce high-quality scientific publications and policy reports.
