PhD: Soil Carbon Dynamics: Join the WIFORCE Research School at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) to contribute to groundbreaking research on soil carbon dynamics in managed boreal forests. Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Required:
    • MSc degree in a relevant subject (e.g., forest ecology, microbial ecology, soil science)
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Preferred:
    • Fieldwork and laboratory experience
    • Familiarity with soil analysis and data analysis tools (e.g., R or other programming languages)
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Job Description:
The PhD candidate will:

  • Investigate soil carbon turnover in managed boreal forests
  • Utilize tools like 14C analysis, NMR, and FTIR for research
  • Conduct fieldwork and manage controlled experiments
  • Perform molecular biology lab work and analyze data with advanced statistical methods
  • Write scientific manuscripts and contribute to project activities

This position is fully funded for four years, culminating in the defense of a doctoral thesis.
