Eligibility/Qualification
Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Cell Biology, or a closely related field by the appointment start date.
- Experience in confocal microscopy.
- Proficiency in tissue dissection, fixation, and immunofluorescence.
- Familiarity with molecular biology techniques.
- At least one published or submitted first-author publication.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Drosophila melanogaster.
- Familiarity with quantitative molecular biology techniques (qPCR or digital PCR).
- Background in aging research.
- Experience in germ line biology.
Job Description
The successful candidate will conduct research in the Nelson Lab focused on:
- Ribosomal DNA maintenance and its molecular/cellular effects during aging.
- Utilizing Drosophila genetics, immunofluorescence, confocal microscopy, and quantitative molecular biology techniques.
- Performing additional tasks in basic molecular biology, protein biochemistry, and RNA biology.
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting experiments within the specified research scope.
- Collecting and analyzing data; contributing to scientific publications.
- Assisting in the training of lab members in specialized techniques.
- Participating in weekly lab meetings and presenting research data.
- Engaging in additional duties or projects relevant to the lab’s mission and your rank, including attending conferences.
