Postdoctoral or PhD Student Positions: Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU) invites applications for two fully funded postdoctoral or PhD student positions in the fields of Biophysics and/or Chemical/Synthetic Biology at the Institute of Molecular Physiology. These positions are an excellent opportunity for researchers interested in studying intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs) and their interactions in vital cellular processes.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • A successfully completed scientific university degree.
  • For Postdoctoral positions: a doctorate in a relevant field.
  • Strong background in physical sciences, engineering, advanced fluorescence techniques, biochemistry, synthetic biology, bioengineering, or chemical biology.
  • Candidates with computational backgrounds and interests in learning biological techniques are encouraged to apply.
  • Excellent command of the English language is mandatory.

Job Description

  • Responsibilities:
  • Plan, prepare, acquire, and supervise research projects.
  • Develop new methods and concepts in chemical/synthetic biology and/or biophysics.
  • Prepare scientific publications and present findings at international scientific congresses.
  • Candidates will contribute to interdisciplinary and internationally visible research aimed at understanding molecular mechanisms of IDPs and developing innovative tools in chemical/synthetic biology.
