Postdoctoral Fellowship in Data Science: The Human Integrative Physiology Laboratory at Centre EPIC of the Montreal Heart Institute is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow with expertise in data analysis and interpretation. The selected candidate will contribute to a funded research project aimed at defining indoor heat thresholds that affect the health and well-being of older adults.

Postdoctoral Fellowship in Data Science and Thermal Physiology

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • A doctoral degree in engineering, technology, physics, or other relevant disciplines with sufficient data science training.
  • Proven experience in data sciences, including contributions to open-source code, projects, and peer-reviewed publications.
  • Expertise in analysis and interpretation of time-series datasets.
  • Strong statistical skills and proficiency in programming languages such as R or Python.
  • Experience with tools like Git/GitHub, pandas, NumPy, dplyr, Matplotlib, and ggplot2.
  • Additional skills in data acquisition, database management (AWS or equivalent), statistical modeling (SciPy, caret, lme4), machine learning, or data visualization (d3.js, plotly) are considered assets.
  • Proficiency in French is not required but will be considered an asset.

Job Description:
The postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for:

  • Cleaning, exploring, and selecting features from large datasets.
  • Training and testing models for data analysis.
  • Developing statistical models and visualization techniques to interpret results.
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary and international team of researchers in thermal physiology, public health, and environmental engineering.
