Eligibility/Qualification:

To be eligible for the Newton International Fellowship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a PhD or be in the process of obtaining one by the start date of the funding.
  • Have no more than seven years of active full-time postdoctoral research experience (excluding career breaks).
  • Be a non-UK citizen based outside the UK.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in oral and written English.
  • Conduct research that aligns with the Royal Society’s remit of natural sciences.

Job Description:

The Newton International Fellowship provides early career researchers with the opportunity to gain experience, develop an independent research career, and build collaborative relationships with UK researchers. Fellowships support the following:

  • Basic salary and associated costs set by the host institution.
  • Research-related expenses.
  • Relocation and visa costs for fellows and their dependents.
  • Estate costs and indirect costs.

Successful applicants will also have access to various career development and engagement opportunities, including training and activities coordinated by the Royal Society.
