Postdoctoral Position in Magnetic Materials: The Max Planck Institute for Chemical Physics of Solids in Dresden invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral position focused on the design, synthesis, and validation of innovative magnetic materials aimed at sustainable energy solutions. This two-year position, potentially extendable, involves collaboration with leading scientists at Northeastern University in Boston.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Ph.D. or equivalent in solid-state chemistry, physics, materials science, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in solid-state synthesis and single crystal growth.
  • Knowledge in magnetism and nanoscience is essential.
  • Experience in post-processing techniques, such as bonding and sintering, is highly desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal and scientific communication skills (oral and written).

Job Description:

  • Synthesize, process, and characterize new rare-earth-free hard magnetic materials.
  • Foster and manage transatlantic cooperation, communication, and exchanges in consultation with project PIs.
  • Conduct advanced materials processing and characterization using standard laboratory techniques including x-ray diffraction, electron microscopy, calorimetry, force microscopy, and magnetometry.
  • Experience with synchrotron and spectroscopic probes is considered a plus.
  • Collaborate with a vibrant international team of scientists and engage in cutting-edge scientific projects.
