Research Area

The focus of this research project will be on the connection between SARS-CoV-2 infection and the development of neurodegenerative diseases. Special emphasis will be placed on studying Parkinson’s disease and the neuroinflammatory effects and neuronal damage caused by the virus.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • A Master’s degree (MSc) in neuroscience, immunology, or a related discipline.
  • Hands-on experience with techniques relevant to the project, including data analysis, is preferred.
  • Experience with laboratory animals (Article 9 certification) is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Description

The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team within the Department of Neurobiology & Aging at BPRC, working on post-mortem brain tissues and biofluids (such as blood and cerebrospinal fluid) to explore neurodegenerative mechanisms. Techniques to be utilized include immunohistochemistry, RNA sequencing (bulk & single cell), and proteomics analysis. The project offers a collaborative environment with opportunities to test mechanisms in vitro using induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) cultures.
