Research Area

This research topic focuses on improving the knowledge base regarding oats as both human food and animal feed, specifically for Norwegian dairy cows. The project will explore the impact of various oat cultivars on milk production and the overall health of dairy cattle.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • Master’s degree of at least 120 credits (ECTS) based on a bachelor’s degree of at least 180 credits (ECTS) or a comparable integrated master’s degree totaling at least 300 credits (ECTS).
  • Strong academic background and documented interest in ruminant nutrition.
  • Proficiency in English (written and oral).
  • Experience in ruminant nutrition or dairy production, and laboratory work will be advantageous.

Description

The candidate will improve their scientific skills by attending relevant PhD courses, conducting experiments, and analyzing data. They will have the opportunity to present results at national and international conferences. The focus will be on evaluating emerging oat cultivars and their impact on dairy cow performance and product quality. The expected outcome includes a comprehensive understanding of oats’ role as feed, thereby enhancing its sustainable production in Norway.
