Job Description:
Empa, a research institution within the ETH Domain, is dedicated to innovative materials science and technology. The selected candidate will join the Environmental Risk Assessment and Management Group (ERAM) within TSL to contribute to sustainability transformation by analyzing and evaluating novel materials and technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop computational models to assess the mass flows of biobased and biodegradable polymers.
  • Analyze environmental releases, focusing on agricultural applications and soil accumulation.
  • Compare the effectiveness of biodegradable polymers in reducing microplastic pollution versus conventional polymers.
  • Present research findings at scientific conferences and publish in high-quality journals.

Eligibility & Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree or PhD in environmental/natural sciences, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in computational modeling.
  • Preferably, some experience with plastics-related studies (e.g., release studies or risk assessment).
  • Strong scientific writing and publishing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in English (both written and oral).
