PostDoc/Senior Researcher: FIZ Karlsruhe – Leibniz Institute for Information Infrastructure is seeking a PhD/Junior Researcher or PostDoc/Senior Researcher for its Information Service Engineering department starting October 1, 2025. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to conduct innovative research in knowledge-driven Artificial Intelligence with a strong focus on knowledge graphs and machine learning technologies.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • For PhD candidates: Very good master’s degree in computer science or a comparable discipline.
  • For PostDocs: PhD degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Strong software engineering skills with the ability to develop sophisticated software components.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English; German language skills are an advantage.
  • Publications in renowned peer-reviewed journals and conferences (for PostDocs/Senior Researchers).
  • Experience in acquiring funding from national, European, or international agencies is beneficial but not mandatory.

Job Description:

  • Conduct innovative research on topics such as knowledge graphs, deep learning, large language models, ontological engineering, and natural language processing.
  • Participate in scientific publications and academic activities.
  • Co-supervise master and bachelor theses, and for PostDocs, co-supervise PhD students.
  • Engage in project-management activities including internal and external coordination, reporting, and acquisition of funding.
  • Work in a collaborative environment on a variety of machine learning research topics including named entity recognition, knowledge extraction, knowledge representation learning, and more.
