Postdoctoral Researcher/Doctoral Researcher: The Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Eastern Finland is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher/Doctoral Researcher/Project Researcher position in Translational Immunology. The selected candidate will engage in cutting-edge research focusing on immunological disturbances in autoimmune diseases, with a particular emphasis on CD4+ T cells using advanced single cell methodologies.

Translational Immunology, focusing on autoimmune diseases and type 1 diabetes.

Location:
Kuopio Campus, University of Eastern Finland, Finland.


Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Postdoctoral Researcher:
  • Must hold a suitable doctoral degree obtained less than five years ago in immunology or a related discipline.
  • Doctoral Researcher:
  • Required to have completed a Master’s degree (MSc) in biosciences or a related discipline and be eligible to pursue postgraduate studies.
  • Project Researcher:
  • If neither qualification applies, candidates may be appointed as Project Researchers.

Additional Requirements:

  • Good knowledge of written and spoken English.
  • Ability to work independently and supervise students.
  • Willingness to contribute to writing peer-reviewed publications and research funding applications.

Desirable Experience (for Postdoctoral Researchers):

  • Multi-parameter flow cytometry.
  • Single cell multiomics.
  • T-cell culture.
  • Biostatistics/bioinformatics skills.

Job Description:
The successful candidate will analyze longitudinal immune alterations in blood samples collected during the progression to type 1 diabetes. Key methodologies will include single cell multiomics, flow cytometry, and plasma cytokine measurements. The research aims to identify important immune pathways for developing immunotherapies and novel biomarkers to better identify individuals at risk of progressing to clinical T1D.

The position is fixed-term, from 1 September 2025 to 31 March 2027 (or as agreed), and includes a probationary period.
