Eligibility/Qualification

  • A degree corresponding to a Norwegian doctoral degree in biostatistics, statistics, machine learning, mathematics, data science, computer science, or another relevant field.
  • Doctoral dissertation must be submitted for evaluation by the closing date. Appointment is dependent on the public defense of the doctoral thesis being approved.
  • Strong quantitative and computational skills are required, with proficiency in R, Python, or equivalent statistical software.
  • Background knowledge in Bayesian methods, statistical learning for molecular data, or relevant research experience in unsupervised learning is advantageous.
  • Experience with large dataset management and biomedical applications is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English (written and oral) are mandatory.

Job Description

The successful candidate will engage in research on Bayesian models for unsupervised learning, particularly in the context of molecular data in cancer genomics. The position entails:

  • Developing methods to integrate large and complex datasets with individualized information, with an emphasis on open and reproducible research.
  • Collaborating closely with other project members to pursue common research objectives.
  • Participation in regular project meetings and contributing to the development and implementation of statistical methodologies.
  • Conducting data analyses, manuscript preparation, and communication of research findings in a friendly and stimulating international environment.
