Postdoctoral Research Associate – Chemistry: The Zheng Lab in the Department of Chemistry at Washington University in St. Louis is seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate. The candidate will be involved in high-throughput synthesis, characterization, and analysis of porous materials, specifically metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) for energy and sustainability applications.   • Education: Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent terminal or doctoral degree in Chemistry or a related field

  • Experience: No specific prior work experience required
  • Skills: Strong proficiency in wet-lab synthesis data collection and interpretation is preferred

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop synthesis procedures for the formation of porous materials and their organic linkers.
  • Characterize the structure and physical properties of materials using x-ray diffraction and gas sorption analysis.
  • Contribute to the mentorship of graduate and undergraduate students in the lab.
  • Publish peer-reviewed journal articles and present research at conferences.
  • Engage in high-throughput synthesis, characterization, and analysis of materials utilizing robotic automation and microwave synthesis, among other techniques.
  • Collaborate with faculty and researchers from various fields, including Chemistry, Materials Science, Data Science, and Chemical Engineering.

Working Conditions

  • Laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards.
  • The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment.
