Call for Tenders: Young Researchers: The Jožef Stefan Institute is seeking young researchers to begin doctoral training in 2025 under the guidance of selected mentors. The program aims to support candidates in obtaining a doctorate in science.

Research Area: Specific research areas are associated with individual mentors and are detailed in Attachment 1 of the tender documentation.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- A second-cycle study program education (or comparable foreign education) with an average grade of at least 8.00 (in exceptional cases, a lower grade might be accepted with additional explanation from the program group leader).
- No more than 4 years have passed since the completion of the last second-cycle study program or equivalent that qualifies for doctoral enrollment. This period can be extended for parental care leave (at least six months) or long-term illness (at least six months).
Description: This call is for the selection of young researchers to commence their doctoral training in 2025. The training is financed for a fixed period to obtain a doctorate, up to a maximum of four years. If a candidate is already enrolled in the second or third year of doctoral study, the financing period is adjusted accordingly (three or two years, respectively).
How to Apply: Candidates must submit their application with all required attachments via email to mr2025@ijs.si. The application must include:
- Application form MR2025: Fully completed and signed (advanced electronic signature is acceptable).
- Proof of education:
- Proof of diploma completion (for programs adopted before June 11, 2004) or proof of completion of first and second-cycle study programs.
- Diploma attachment(s) or a certificate of completed examinations if the diploma is not yet awarded. If already enrolled in a third-degree study program, include a certificate of enrollment and proof of completed obligations.
- Proof of average grade for undergraduate study (diploma supplement or officially confirmed list of examinations with average grade calculated to two decimal places). At least 80% of examinations must be completed.
- Statements:
- DECLARATION No. 1: Statement confirming graduation/master’s degree by the employment contract conclusion date (usually October 1st) and delivery of relevant certificates.
- DECLARATION No. 2: Statement regarding personal data protection.
- DECLARATION No. 3: Statement of citizenship.
Optional attachments include proof of awards, published articles, research participation, and evidence of maternity/parental leave or prolonged sick leave. Foreign applicants must ensure all necessary documentation for employment in Slovenia is ready by the contract conclusion date.
