Eligibility/Qualification:
- A Ph.D. or equivalent in applied physics, electrical engineering, applied photonics, numerical mathematics, or scientific computing.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
- Strong knowledge of computational electromagnetics, numerical optimization, and finite element methods for PDEs.
- Proficiency in Python and Fortran 2003, with experience in parallel programming with MPI and OpenMP.
- Good level of spoken and written English.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will join the Atlantis team, focused on the design, analysis, and development of numerical methods for solving systems of partial differential equations (PDEs) related to nanoscale light-matter interactions. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing novel modeling techniques for next-generation optical metasurfaces, particularly those that are active and dynamically tunable.
- Investigating modeling approaches for nonlinear metasurfaces focusing on applications such as second-harmonic generation and wave mixing.
- Setting up inverse design workflows using the Efficient Global Optimization (EGO) algorithm.
- Collaborating with experimental physicists to validate virtual metasurface designs and co-publishing in high-impact journals.
