Research Assistant – PhD Student: The Institute of Organic Chemistry at the Polish Academy of Sciences is offering scholarships for two Research Assistant – PhD Student positions within the MSC Doctoral Network “PhotoBrane.” This project focuses on the synthesis and fabrication of cross-linked, photo-responsive Langmuir layers based on amphiphilic dyes.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • Candidates of any nationality who have not resided or conducted main activities in Poland for more than 12 months in the past 3 years.
  • Must be within the first four years (full-time equivalent research experience) of their research careers and have not been awarded a doctoral degree.
  • Required Competencies:
  • MSc in organic chemistry
  • Very good knowledge of organic chemistry
  • Proficiency in the English language (spoken and written)
  • Previous laboratory work in organic synthesis is desirable.

Description

The selected candidates will engage in advanced research related to the synthesis of two-dimensional light-responsive polymers at the air-water interface, focusing on amphiphilic dyes and photo-switches to create chemically and mechanically stable membranes capable of molecular sieving controlled by light. The position will culminate in a doctoral dissertation.
