Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field
- Demonstrated experience in metal additive manufacturing, particularly Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF)
- Proficiency in material characterization techniques (e.g., DSC, SEM, EBSD, XRD)
- Hands-on experience in the post-processing and shape programming of SMAs
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage in international collaborative research
- Proactive working style capable of managing multiple responsibilities
- Collaborative, creative, and problem-solving mindset
Job Description:
As a postdoctoral researcher, you will focus on experimental work related to the manufacturing and characterization of SMA components. You’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team from UTwente, FIP, TU Delft, NLR, and other partners to advance research on the properties and implementation of these advanced materials. This project aims to develop morphing surfaces that optimize aerodynamic performance by responding to temperature variations, significantly improving fuel efficiency and reducing emissions, aligning with the aviation sector’s climate-neutral goals for 2050.
