Eligibility/Qualification
To be eligible for the University of Pretoria Commonwealth Doctoral Scholarships, candidates must fulfill the following criteria:
- Must be a citizen of a Commonwealth country (excluding South Africa).
- Planning to begin studies at the University of Pretoria in the academic year 2026.
- Submitted a separate application for admission to a doctoral program at UP.
- Secured a potential supervisor at the University of Pretoria.
- Completed a postgraduate or master’s degree within the last 2 years.
- Must be under the age of 40 at the time of application.
- Not currently registered in a PhD or Master’s degree or previously studied at UP.
Job Description
Successful candidates will receive fully funded scholarships covering:
- Accommodation
- Living expenses (190,000 ZAR)
- Return flight tickets
- Medical assistance
- Fees (including application fee)
- Books/stationery
- Shuttle service on arrival
- Study visa cost
