Research Area
The project focuses on understanding cellular energy system functioning in mitochondria across species, particularly how metabolic processes adapt to different environmental conditions. The research integrates ecology with molecular biology, studying species such as Lepus timidus and Lepus europaeus.

Eligibility/Qualification
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in molecular biology, cell biology, or related fields completed by the time of application.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Experience in laboratory work; experience with cell culture is beneficial but not essential.
- Strong motivation to pursue high-level research and complete a PhD.
Description
The selected candidate will engage in:
- Designing and conducting experiments independently and collaboratively.
- Utilizing molecular biology and cell culture techniques, including flow cytometry, imaging, and high-resolution respirometry.
- Analyzing data and publishing findings in peer-reviewed journals.
- Participating in conferences, workshops, and teaching activities.
Supervision will be provided by Dr. Sina Saari, with collaboration from Dr. Eric Dufour and Prof. Jaakko Pohjoismäki.
