Postdoc – Theoretical and Computational Chemistry: NYU Shanghai invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow position in the research group of Prof. William Glover. Eligibility / Qualification

Candidates must have:

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Physics, or related fields (by the start date).
  • Experience with molecular/quantum dynamics.
  • Experience developing theoretical chemistry software (quantum chemistry and/or classical/quantum dynamics).
  • Strong written and spoken English skills.

Preferred expertise in one or more areas:

  • Excited-state electronic structure methods
  • Analytical gradient theory
  • Non-adiabatic dynamics
  • Polarizable embedding
  • Deep learning potentials

Job Description

The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to innovative projects such as:

  1. Developing multistate-multiphysics deep learning potentials and polarizable embedding methodology to simulate photoinduced charge-transfer dynamics in multichromophoric systems.
  2. Applying multiscale excited-state dynamics simulations to unravel electron-induced damage mechanisms in biological molecules.
  3. Developing GPU-accelerated multireference methods for on-the-fly excited-state dynamics with applications to photodamage of biologically relevant molecules.

The role involves both method development and applications to complex chemical/biological systems, with opportunities for collaboration within the Center for Computational Chemistry.
