Eligibility/Qualification:
- A completed doctoral degree or a foreign equivalent in Biochemistry, Cellular or Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or related disciplines.
- Priority for candidates who completed their doctoral degree within the past three years, with exceptions for special circumstances.
- A strong track record in a relevant field of research, demonstrated by first authorships in peer-reviewed publications.
- Experience in protein biochemistry and comprehensive skills in cell and molecular biology methods.
Additional Merits:
- Previous experience in studying mitochondria and protein quality control.
- Familiarity with S. cerevisiae as a research model.
- Skills in high-throughput screening and flow cytometry.
- Advanced molecular cloning techniques.
Job Description:
As a postdoctoral fellow, you will:
- Investigate protein quality control mechanisms for mitochondrially encoded proteins.
- Study the interplay between PQC systems, mitochondrial translation, and respiratory chain complex assembly using advanced biochemical and proteomic methods.
- Utilize high-throughput flow cytometry to analyze mitochondrial functionality, cellular viability, and fitness during ageing.
- Collaborate in an inclusive and open-minded research environment.
