Eligibility/Qualification

  • MSc in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related fields
  • Strong coding skills, particularly in machine learning algorithms and software frameworks (e.g., PyTorch or JAX)
  • Background in computer architecture and/or circuit design is advantageous
  • Prior experience in computational neuroscience, especially in modeling and training Spiking Neural Networks (SNNs) is a plus
  • Passion for understanding biological intelligence and constructing artificial intelligence
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English

Job Description

  • Study learning rules connected to modern neural architectures and adapt them for custom-built hardware architectures.
  • Design novel efficient learning solutions utilizing the dynamics of mixed-signal analog-digital hardware.
  • Simulate models of learning algorithms on practical problems, analyzing their robustness against hardware non-idealities.
  • Publish research articles and present findings at international conferences.
  • Complete two internships:
  • RWTH Aachen, focusing on system-level and algorithmic modeling of learning.
  • CEA-Leti, working with memristor technology.
  • Participate in yearly retreats organized by the doctoral network and supervise student projects and theses.
