Eligibility/Qualification
- MSc in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related fields
- Strong coding skills, particularly in machine learning algorithms and software frameworks (e.g., PyTorch or JAX)
- Background in computer architecture and/or circuit design is advantageous
- Prior experience in computational neuroscience, especially in modeling and training Spiking Neural Networks (SNNs) is a plus
- Passion for understanding biological intelligence and constructing artificial intelligence
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
Job Description
- Study learning rules connected to modern neural architectures and adapt them for custom-built hardware architectures.
- Design novel efficient learning solutions utilizing the dynamics of mixed-signal analog-digital hardware.
- Simulate models of learning algorithms on practical problems, analyzing their robustness against hardware non-idealities.
- Publish research articles and present findings at international conferences.
- Complete two internships:
- RWTH Aachen, focusing on system-level and algorithmic modeling of learning.
- CEA-Leti, working with memristor technology.
- Participate in yearly retreats organized by the doctoral network and supervise student projects and theses.
