Eligibility/Qualification

  • Required:
  • University degree (Diplom (Uni) or Master) and a doctorate (successfully completed or about to be completed) in biology, ecology, environmental sciences, or a similar field.
  • Experience in the statistical analysis of ecological data.
  • Preferable/Desirable:
  • Previous research focus on vegetation ecology.
  • Experience working in coastal ecosystems.
  • Competitive publication record commensurate with career stage.

Job Description

The first 24 months involve a leading role in the DFG Research Unit DynaCom, focusing on the synthesis project “Spatial community ecology: searching for ecological transitions along gentle landscape gradients.” Responsibilities include collating and analyzing large multivariate datasets from multiple years of field monitoring on Spiekeroog island, particularly related to intertidal gradients and ecotone transitions. During the subsequent 12 months, the researcher will have the opportunity to pursue their own research agenda and strengthen their academic profile.
