University Assistant (Post-Doc) -Chemistry: TU Wien is seeking a motivated University Assistant (Post-Doc) for a position focused on developing advanced characterization methods in the field of heterogeneous catalysis. This is a full-time role (40 hours/week) limited to six years, anticipated to start in January 2026.

Eligibility/Qualification
- Completed PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or Materials Science
- Strong motivation for postdoctoral research related to future career aspirations
- Experience with synchrotron radiation and relevant research environments
- Research experience in one or more of the following areas:
- X-ray microscopy and tomography (especially with synchrotron radiation)
- X-ray diffraction and/or total scattering
- X-ray spectroscopy
- Computational microscopy (e.g., ptychography, coherent diffraction microscopy)
- Knowledge of scientific programming (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB) or willingness to learn
- Experience in interdisciplinary research cooperation, especially at synchrotron light sources, is advantageous
- Fluent in English (B2 or C1 level) with strong communication and teamwork skills
- Knowledge of German is not required but a willingness to learn is an advantage
Job Description
- Develop advanced spatially-resolved characterization methods based on X-ray diffraction tomography and/or hyperspectral X-ray imaging
- Participate in international measurement campaigns at synchrotron light sources and other large-scale facilities
- Cultivate personal competence in characterization of functional materials
- Engage in and initiate research collaborations locally and internationally
- Collect, analyze, and interpret research data according to FAIR principles
- Participate in teaching and supervision of students
- Attend scientific events including conferences and workshops
- Assist with organizational and administrative tasks within the research division
