Postdoc in Netherlands

PhD Candidates (2 Positions): Nikhef, the national institute for subatomic physics in the Netherlands, offers an exciting scholarship opportunity for PhD candidates to engage in groundbreaking research on the Higgs boson potential in the ATLAS group. Candidates will benefit from a dynamic and supportive international environment focused on advanced data analysis techniques and machine learning applications in high-energy physics.

Designation

PhD Candidates (2 Positions)

Research Area

  • Higgs boson physics
  • Advanced data analysis techniques
  • Machine learning strategies
  • Experimental particle physics

Location

Nikhef, Amsterdam, Netherlands

Eligibility/Qualification

  • A completed (or nearly completed) Master’s degree in high-energy physics or a closely related field.
  • Strong interest in data analysis and good software skills (Python, C++, ROOT).
  • Research experience in experimental particle physics is preferred.
  • Experience with machine learning algorithms is desirable but not mandatory.

Job Description

  1. Position 1:
  • Focus on the search for the rare process of ttHH production in LHC Run-3 data, employing advanced machine learning techniques for event classification.
  1. Position 2:
  • Concentrate on the reconstruction of two-Higgs decay channels (HH->bbγγ) and work collaboratively on the combined interpretation of all reconstructed diHiggs channels.

Candidates will work under the supervision of leading researchers, contribute to innovative data analysis projects, and may have opportunities for extended stays at CERN, up to a total of one year.

How to Apply

Interested candidates should complete the application template and prepare the following documents:

  • A short cover letter indicating interest in the specific position(s).
  • A comprehensive curriculum vitae.
  • Contact details for at least two referees willing to provide recommendation letters.

Applications should be submitted online through the designated portal.

Last Date to Apply
