PhD Stipend in “Cardiometabolic Diseases”, University of Southern Denmark

Postdoc in Denmark

PhD Stipend in “Cardiometabolic Diseases”: The University of Southern Denmark invites applications for a PhD position in the Functional Genomics & Metabolism Research Unit, focusing on experimental approaches to uncover mechanisms linking adipose tissue heterogeneity to cardiometabolic diseases.

PhD Stipend in “Experimental Dissection of Human Adipose Tissue Heterogeneity in Cardiometabolic Diseases”

Designation

PhD Research Fellow

Research Area

  • Experimental dissection of human adipose tissue
  • Cardiometabolic diseases, specifically obesity, type 2 diabetes, and related conditions.

Location

Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Southern Denmark, Odense M, Denmark

Eligibility/Qualification

  • Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biomedicine, or related Life Sciences.
  • Strong hands-on experience in cell culture and molecular biology techniques.
  • Experience with mouse handling, metabolic phenotyping, or tissue processing is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with CRISPR-based genome editing, viral transduction, or functional assays is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in English (spoken and written) and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.

Job Description

The selected candidate will:

  • Perform primary human preadipocyte and adipose stromal progenitor cell cultures.
  • Apply gain- and loss-of-function strategies (e.g., CRISPR-Cas9, siRNA).
  • Conduct ligand stimulation assays and analyze downstream transcriptional and functional responses.
  • Use advanced imaging, flow cytometry, and molecular assays to characterize cellular phenotypes.
  • Conduct in vivo studies in mouse models of obesity and metabolic disease.

How to Apply

Interested candidates must submit:

  • A letter of motivation detailing interest and qualifications (max. two pages).
  • A detailed CV with personal contact information.
  • Copies of diplomas for Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, including transcripts.
