The organization is well-equipped with advanced research infrastructural facilities including dedicated Biobanking, microbial repository, cell culture, NGS Genomics facilities and Supercomputing Bioinformatics facilities with highly competent scientific manpower to carry out research activities in the frontier areas. Research/Job Area- Various specialization of Life Science/Bioinformatics or related discipline
- Wastewater Genomic Surveillance for SARS-CoV-2 and Emerging Pathogens
- Antimicrobial Resistance
- Multi-centric Syndromic Surveillance of Acute Febrile Illness (AFI) and Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES)
- Environmental Surveillance for Public Health
- Screening Genetic Disorders in Women and Children (UMMID Initiative)
- Establishing Metagenomic NGS Surveillance Models

Eligibility/Qualification–

- Project Scientist-II:
- Doctoral degree in science/ Master’s in engineering/technology 3 years of R&D experience in academic/industrial/organizations
- Project Associate-II:
- MSc in Life Science/Bioinformatics or related discipline
- At least 2 years’ relevant experience (NGS/Bioinformatics preferred)
- Lab Technician / Research Assistant:
- BSc/3-year diploma in Engineering & Technology
- Project Technical Support-III:
- Three Years Graduate degree + 3 years’ experience/PG in relevant field
- Or for Eng/IT/CS: Four Year Graduate Degree + 3 years’ experience
- Project Research Scientist II (Non-Medical):
- First Class PG Degree with 3 years’ experience or PhD
- Or Second Class PG with PhD + 3 Years’ Experience
- Eng/IT/CS: First Class Four Years Graduate Degree + 3 years’ experience

Job/Position Description-
Gujarat Biotechnology Research Centre (GBRC), under the Department of Science & Technology, Government of Gujarat, invites applications from qualified candidates for several temporary research positions across multiple projects in biotechnology, genomics, surveillance, and biomedical science. These posts are contractual and linked to specific research projects.

- Project Scientist-II (1)
- Project Associate-II (total 3 across projects)
- Lab Technician (total 4 across projects)
- Project Technical Support-III (total 3 across projects)
- Project Research Scientist-II (Non-Medical, 2)
- Participate in genomics-based research projects including surveillance, laboratory experiments, analysis of NGS data, field/lab sample handling, project reporting, and supporting scientific activities under supervision.
- Specific duties depend on the post and research project (may involve bioinformatics, diagnostic protocols, community/genomic surveillance, or lab management).
