Postdoctoral Researcher in Land Surface Model: Join the land surface modeling group at the Laboratoire des Sciences du Climat et de l’Environnement (LSCE) near Paris as a Postdoctoral Researcher. This role focuses on integrating tree-ring data to enhance the ORCHIDEE global land surface model, part of the ERC-funded project CATES.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in Physics, Mathematics, or Engineering
  • Proven scientific publishing experience
  • Prior experience in data assimilation with ORCHIDEE or any other land-surface model (essential)

Job Description:

The successful candidate will:

  1. Improve the structure and parameterization of a tree-ring module that integrates growth dynamics using existing datasets.
  2. Assemble a global tree-ring database for model parameterization.
  3. Assimilate global tree-ring width and stable isotopes into the ORCHIDEE model and conduct global simulations of coupled land-climate interactions.
  4. Lead and contribute to scientific publications on model development, parameterization, and improved carbon cycle simulations.
