Eligibility/Qualifications

  • M.Sc. degree (or equivalent) in materials science, chemistry, physics, or related fields.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor materials and/or organic electronics.
  • Good communication skills in English, both spoken and written.
  • Willingness to travel within the Schengen region, the UK, and abroad for research and networking.
  • Self-motivated with a strong interest in science and fundamental research.
  • Team-oriented.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience in organic semiconductor processing and characterization.
  • Knowledge or experience in doping of organic semiconductors.
  • Understanding of photochemistry and/or photocatalysis.

Job Description

The doctoral candidate will:

  • Investigate innovative doping strategies to modify the properties of organic semiconductors.
  • Conduct optical and electrical measurements to study charge transport and doping effects.
  • Implement the resulting materials into functional electronic devices.

The position includes three secondments at:

  • University of Bern (Switzerland) – advanced in-operando spectroscopic techniques.
  • Molecular Gate (Spain) – methods to image doping profiles.
  • Forschungszentrum Jülich (Germany) – biocompatibility assessment.
