Eligibility/Qualification

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, Mathematics, Physics, Geoinformatics, or related quantitative fields.
  • Experience in machine learning, particularly with time series, geospatial data, or dynamic models; familiarity with deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch) is beneficial.
  • Strong analytical skills and capability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.

Description

The selected PhD candidate will engage in:

  • Developing ML models for non-stationary processes related to floods.
  • Contributing to hybrid model components combining data-driven methods with hydrological representations.
  • Improving model generalizability for extreme weather events and quantifying flood risk.
  • Supporting benchmarking activities and presenting results in publications.
