Description
As a PhD candidate, you will conduct independent research on responsible and interpretable advice-giving systems and information retrieval. You will develop and evaluate techniques to understand and improve the behavior of neural networks in information retrieval contexts. Your work may include:
- Mechanistic interpretability for retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) models
- Evaluation frameworks to assess dimensions of responsible advice-giving systems
- Investigating the societal impact of your findings
- Publishing results in leading conferences (SIGIR, NeurIPS, ACL, etc.)
The contract will be for 38 hours per week over four years, starting as soon as possible. The initial contract is for 18 months, extendable based on satisfactory evaluation.
