Eligibility/Qualification
Required Qualifications:
- Doctoral Degree in Microbiology, Virology, or a closely related field by the time of hire.
- Experience in performing and evaluating viral infections and cellular responses.
- Familiarity with experimental procedures for studying viral replication, spread, and immune responses.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD or Postdoc experience in Flavivirus research.
- Experience in BSL3 settings with neuropathogenic viruses.
- 2 to 5 years of molecular biology experience with viral-infected cells/mice.
- Skills in single-cell RNA sequencing, qRT-PCR, and flow cytometry.
Job Description
The Postdoctoral Associate will work in a dynamic team under Dr. Erich Mackow, focusing on the following tasks:
- Execute POWV experiments and data analysis in BSL2/BSL3 settings and murine models.
- Analyze viral and cellular proteins and RNA transcriptional responses.
- Investigate POWV entry into the CNS and neurovirulence.
- Utilize recombinant approaches for reverse genetics and vaccine development.
- Document and analyze data, prepare manuscripts, and assist with grant proposals.
- General lab maintenance and supply ordering.
