Postdoctoral Researcher (Assistant Professor): The Centre of Migration Research (CMR) at the University of Warsaw invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Researcher (Assistant Professor) position within the RECLASS research project. The position focuses on qualitative social science research related to migration, social class, and education. The successful candidate will work closely with the Principal Investigator on research design, data collection, analysis, publications, and dissemination activities in a dynamic, interdisciplinary research environment.

Eligibility / Qualification

Mandatory Requirements

  • PhD degree in social sciences or another discipline with strong training in qualitative social science research
  • PhD awarded within 12 years before 1 January of the employment year (NCN rules apply)
  • PhD obtained outside the University of Warsaw or completion of at least a 10-month continuous postdoctoral fellowship abroad
  • Proven experience in qualitative research, including in-depth interviews (IDIs)
  • Polish language proficiency (B2) for conducting and analysing interviews
  • English language proficiency (B2) for research and publications
  • Compliance with Article 113 of the Polish Law on Higher Education and Science
  • No concurrent employment or remuneration from other NCN-funded projects
  • No concurrent employment contract with another employer during the project period
  • Not receiving pension benefits during employment

Additional Assets (Desirable)

  • Proficiency in Ukrainian and/or Russian
  • Experience in computer-assisted qualitative data analysis (CAQDAS)
  • Experience conducting research in local communities
  • Interest or expertise in migration and/or social class
  • Peer-reviewed publication record appropriate to career stage
  • Strong communication, organisational, and teamwork skills

Job Description

The Postdoctoral Researcher will be responsible for:

  1. Collaborating with the Principal Investigator on research design and theoretical frameworks
  2. Collecting qualitative data, including IDIs and FGIs in Warsaw and another location
  3. Monitoring and reporting progress in data collection
  4. Verifying interview transcripts and translations
  5. Preparing qualitative data for archiving, including pseudonymisation
  6. Analysing qualitative data using CAQDAS software
  7. Co-authoring peer-reviewed journal articles and other academic publications
  8. Co-presenting research findings at conferences and seminars
  9. Supporting project management, reporting, and data management plans
  10. Disseminating and promoting project results

The University of Warsaw is expected to be the primary workplace of the selected candidate.
