Research Area
This PhD position is part of the REAP2SOW programme, which aims at the transition to sustainable plant-based protein systems by 2050. The research focuses on designing resilient and sustainable cropping systems that improve ecosystem services while minimizing environmental impacts.

Eligibility/Qualification
- MSc degree in plant sciences, plant biology, agronomy, or related fields.
- Excellent communication skills (both scientific and non-scientific).
- Practical experience in agronomy or crop sciences.
- Strong analytical, statistical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in English (C1 level); proficiency in Dutch is an advantage.
- Valid driving license may be required.
Description
As a PhD candidate, you will:
- Design and execute field trials to examine the agronomic performance of protein crops.
- Collect insights from farmers on current cropping systems and adoption challenges for novel protein crops.
- Develop a crop growth model to predict yields.
- Publish research findings and engage in broader societal outreach.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure effective adoption of sustainable practices.
