Research Training Awards (CIRTA): The Canada Impact+ Research Training Awards (CIRTA) aim to attract exceptional research talent to Canada. This initiative supports both doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers in key research areas to strengthen Canada’s research capacity and global competitiveness.

Doctoral Level: $40,000 per year (maximum duration of 36 months)
Postdoctoral Level: $70,000 per year (maximum duration of 24 months)

Eligibility/Qualification

  • General Eligibility:
  • Candidates from any citizenship including Canadians and international applicants.
  • Must currently be studying or working abroad and not affiliated with any Canadian institution.
  • Doctoral Candidates:
  • Must be eligible for enrollment in a doctoral program at the University of Ottawa at the award activation date.
  • Postdoctoral Candidates:
  • Must hold or expect to hold a PhD or health professional degree before the award start date.

Description

The CIRTA is a one-time initiative supported by federal granting agencies to enhance the recruitment of qualified candidates into Canada’s research ecosystem. It targets individuals in specified priority research areas, focusing on fostering both academic and practical outcomes in research.
