Eligibility/Qualification:
- Master’s degree in Mechanical, Structural, Civil, Materials, Ocean Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Strong background in structural mechanics and engineering modelling, analysis, and simulation.
- Proficiency in scientific programming environments such as Python, MATLAB, or R is preferred.
- Familiarity with Finite Element Method (FEM) tools is highly regarded.
- Interest or experience in additive manufacturing and statistical analysis will be considered advantageous.
Job Description:
The PhD project will focus on developing a robust and scalable subsea electrode unit for HVDC systems, including:
- Understanding loads, material behaviour, and failure mechanisms of subsea structures.
- Developing reliability-based structural design frameworks and risk-based integrity management strategies.
- Exploring additively manufactured structural concepts designed for enhanced fatigue and corrosion resistance.
- Engaging in an academia-industry collaboration aimed at advancing next-generation HVDC subsea infrastructure.
- Responsibilities include research publication, technical reporting, and collaboration with industrial partners.
