Eligibility/Qualification

  • PhD in computational mechanics, applied mathematics, biomedical engineering, computer science, or related disciplines.
  • Strong background in finite-element methods, continuum mechanics, and numerical analysis.
  • Excellent programming skills in C++ and/or Python.
  • Experience with real-time computing (GPU, multi-core) is desirable.
  • Prior experience with SOFA is advantageous.

Job Description

You will join the Legato group, a leader in computational mechanics and surgical simulation. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and optimizing finite-element models for real-time execution on AR devices.
  • Implementing models within open-source frameworks such as SOFA, FEniCSx, and SOniCS.
  • Designing adaptive strategies balancing accuracy and speed under real-time constraints.
  • Benchmarking and profiling performance on ARSPECTRA hardware in collaboration with their engineering team.
  • Contributing to open-source code, demonstrators, and joint publications.
