Job Description

The Postdoctoral Fellow will serve as a technical and scientific lead developing innovative platforms to study tissue regeneration at organ scale. The role involves close collaboration with leading research centers including the Columbia Stem Cell Initiative, the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the Columbia Genome Center.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Designing and executing in vivo gene delivery strategies and pooled CRISPR (CRISPRx) screens.
  2. Utilizing and improving pipelines for CRISPR-screen and RNA-seq data deconvolution.
  3. Validating candidate genes using molecular and cellular assays (e.g., scRNA-seq, flow cytometry, lightsheet imaging).
  4. Performing organoid cultures from primary tissue and induced pluripotent stem cells.
  5. Integrating emerging scientific literature into individual and lab-wide research strategies.
  6. Troubleshooting experimental challenges in collaboration with PI and lab members.
  7. Maintaining rigorous scientific, ethical, and laboratory safety standards.
  8. Writing manuscripts, reports, and grant-related research materials.
  9. Publishing in high-impact journals and presenting at international scientific conferences.

Eligibility / Qualification

Minimum Requirements

  • PhD in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biomedical Engineering, Computational Biology, or related fields.
  • Strong background in cell culture and molecular biology techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently design, execute, and interpret experiments.
  • Proven scientific creativity, initiative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong publication record.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet research timelines.
  • Commitment to collaborative and inclusive research environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with mouse models and immune cell biology.
  • Background in machine learning or computational biology.
