Research Area:
This role focuses on the integration of detailed site-level observations with large-scale data synthesis to investigate how heatwaves, droughts, winter warming episodes, and rain-on-snow events affect water flow, soil conditions, vegetation dynamics, and ecosystem carbon fluxes.
Eligibility/Qualification:
- Doctoral degree in data science, geoscience, biogeochemistry, environmental science, ecology, engineering, or equivalent experience (must be completed by closing date).
- The doctoral degree must have been awarded no more than 10 years ago.
- Extensive experience in handling large observational and/or modeling datasets and statistical data analysis.
- Strong written and spoken English skills.
- Proven track record in scientific writing and publishing.
Job Description:
You will work with extensive datasets from multiple Arctic and sub-Arctic research sites. Your main responsibilities include:
- Compiling and managing datasets from long-term monitoring sites.
- Extracting and calculating indicators of extreme climatic events from reanalysis products.
- Analyzing carbon cycling and hydrological responses during extreme events.
- Contributing to multi-site synthesis that enhances understanding of regional carbon balance dynamics.
- Publishing findings in peer-reviewed journals and presenting research at conferences.
