Research Area:

This role focuses on the integration of detailed site-level observations with large-scale data synthesis to investigate how heatwaves, droughts, winter warming episodes, and rain-on-snow events affect water flow, soil conditions, vegetation dynamics, and ecosystem carbon fluxes.


Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Doctoral degree in data science, geoscience, biogeochemistry, environmental science, ecology, engineering, or equivalent experience (must be completed by closing date).
  • The doctoral degree must have been awarded no more than 10 years ago.
  • Extensive experience in handling large observational and/or modeling datasets and statistical data analysis.
  • Strong written and spoken English skills.
  • Proven track record in scientific writing and publishing.

Job Description:

You will work with extensive datasets from multiple Arctic and sub-Arctic research sites. Your main responsibilities include:

  • Compiling and managing datasets from long-term monitoring sites.
  • Extracting and calculating indicators of extreme climatic events from reanalysis products.
  • Analyzing carbon cycling and hydrological responses during extreme events.
  • Contributing to multi-site synthesis that enhances understanding of regional carbon balance dynamics.
  • Publishing findings in peer-reviewed journals and presenting research at conferences.
