Research Area
The position focuses on the scientific understanding of how wind turbines affect microclimate parameters such as air temperature and soil moisture, contributing to the approval processes for new wind farms.
Eligibility/Qualification
- Required:
- PhD in Meteorology, Physical or Geophysical Sciences, Mechanical Engineering, or relevant fields.
- University degree in related fields such as Meteorology, Geoecology/Environmental Science, or Renewable Energy.
- Strong experience in atmospheric flow simulation.
- Proficiency in Python for data processing.
- Good communication skills in English.
- Desired (but not mandatory):
- Skills in micrometeorological measurement techniques.
- International experience during education or employment.
Job Description
- Conduct a validation study using the large-eddy simulation (LES) model PALM.
- Execute measurement campaigns to analyze the impact of wind turbines on microclimate.
- Extend LES studies to incorporate diverse weather, soil, and vegetation scenarios.
- Collaborate closely with researchers at ForWind and other partners.
- Present findings at international conferences and contribute to peer-reviewed publications.
