Eligibility/Qualification

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in chemistry, physics, meteorology, atmospheric sciences, environmental sciences, or related fields
  • Strong interest in experimental atmospheric research and data analysis
  • Good experimental skills; experience in mass spectrometry or aerosol measurements is an advantage
  • Experience or willingness to learn programming (Python) and advanced data analysis methods
  • Excellent communication skills in English (oral and written)
  • Self-motivated and well-organized work style
  • Strong teamwork skills in an international setting

Description

As a PhD candidate, you will:

  • Conduct gas- and aerosol-phase measurements
  • Investigate photooxidation processes and aerosol formation in the large atmospheric oxidation chamber SAPHIR
  • Perform airborne aerosol measurements onboard a Zeppelin airship
  • Utilize advanced data analysis methods to analyze large datasets
  • Present findings at international conferences and publish in peer-reviewed journals
