Eligibility/Qualification

  • Educational Requirement: Doctoral degree in marine geology, marine ecology, biogeochemistry, or a relevant equivalent.
  • Experience: Previous research on benthic foraminifera or marine/sediment biogeochemistry.
  • Language Proficiency: Very good oral and written English.
  • Additional Criteria:
  • Proven ability to lead and co-author scientific publications.
  • Experience in sampling, preparation, and analysis of benthic foraminifera or other microeukaryotes.
  • Familiarity with colorimetric and chemoluminescence analysis techniques is beneficial.
  • Good social and communication skills.

Job Description

The successful candidate will:

  • Independently plan and conduct fieldwork and lab analyses.
  • Analyze sediment for living (CTG-labelled) benthic foraminifera and quantify densities using epifluorescent microscopy.
  • Conduct nutrient analyses (nitrate and phosphate) in sediment porewater.
  • Evaluate contributions of invasive foraminifera to fjord ecosystem functions.
  • Collaborate with international research teams, present findings at conferences, and publish scientific papers.
  • Engage in research-centered teaching at BSc and MSc levels.
